Wounded Vets Get Full Callaway Club Fitting Experience

Jeff Newton

We’re proud to partner with Birdies For The Brave on our Callaway Club Warrior Fitting Program, which we host at numerous PGA Tour events throughout the year. During these events, we get to meet combat-wounded service members and custom fit them into new Callaway clubs.

It’s a wonderful program that we’re proud to be a part of, and to date we’ve hosted well over 100 of these fittings. We were also lucky enough to do another one this week at the Honda Classic.

Lyndon and Andrew

At PGA National, we got to fit Lyndon Ortiz (in the beard below) and Andrew Mick (in the white pants below).

A former marine, Lyndon was deployed for the first time to Iraq in January 2005 as an Infantry Mortarman. Seven months later, his platoon was hit by an IED, injuring himself and two other Marines. He was later awarded a Purple Heart for his valor in battle. He now lives in Florida, is a self-described golf addict and plays a nice, low fade off his new Rogue Driver.

Andrew is retired from the U.S. Army, and served in Special Operations in the 1st Ranger Battalion and the 20th Special Forces Group. He was deployed to Afghanistan, Iraq, and Central America and was injured on multiple occasions, earning him a Purple Heart. He now lives in Jupiter, Florida where he plays off a 7-handicap and also caddies in local pro events.

The Fitting Experience

Lyndon and Andrew went through a Tour-level fitting experience on the range for about 90 minutes, just a few yards away from some of the world’s best players. They also got to hang out and chat with some of the players at the events. Here’s a quick look at what they put in the bag:

Andrew: Rogue Driver, Rogue FWYs, Rogue Hybrid, Rogue Pro Irons, Mack Daddy 4 Wedges, Odyssey Putter

Lyndon: Rogue Driver, Rogue FWYS, Rogue X Irons, Mack Daddy 4 Wedges, Odyssey Putter

It’s an honor to host these events during the season, and we want to thank Lyndon and Andrew for coming out to the Honda Classic.
